Giovanni da Modena in San Petronio
Two paintings by Giovanni da Modena in the church of San Petronio, Bologna, were recorded at high resolution using the Dr Clauss panoramic photography system on 8 May 2012.

Rubens 3D and colour viewer
Factum Arte's Lucida 3D laser scanner, though still at a prototype stage, was used in the Museo Del Prado in April 20122 to record paintings by Titian and Rubens. The results demonstrated that the scanner had overcome many of the limitations that have restricted the use of 3D scanners for the documentation and monitoring of cultural artifacts.

Routing Photo-topography
The exhibition Carlos Garaicoa: Photo-topography is being shown at the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens (EMΣT), from November 9th 2011 to January 8th, 2012. Garaicoa exhibits a new body of routed and printed works in which black and white images are converted into relief topographies and routed into blocks of polystyrene.

The exhibition Penelope's Labour - Weaving Words and Images features important historical works from the Fondazione Giorgio Cini Collection shown alongside new woven works by Azra Aksamija, Lara Baladi, Alighiero Boetti, Manuel Franquelo, Carlos Garaicoa, Craigie Horsfield, Grayson Perry and Marc Quinn. Carlos Garaicoa
The exhibition Party! Not Tea Party opened in gallery Elba Benítez, Madrid, on February 5th 2011.
Along with other new works by Carlos Garaicoa (including a magnetic tree and a collection of hats), the solo exhibition featured a series of photographic dyptichs produced by Factum Arte. These works continued our collaboration with Garaicoa on previous pieces like Para transformar la palabra política en hechos, finalmente II.

La Defensa de Zaragoza
The facsimile of La defensa de Zaragoza by José Álvarez Cubero was finally installed in Priego. La Defensa de Zaragoza depicts an important event in Spain's independence from Napoleon's France. The artist José Álvarez Cubero sculpted the piece after the end of the French occupation, this becoming his most important work.
The original sculpture is owned by Museo del Prado in Madrid. With its collaboration, Factum Arte produced the facsimile commissioned by the Ayuntamiento de Priego de Córdoba, hometown to the sculptor. The final piece is now on permanent display in a square of Priego.

Piranesi: Scagliola workshop
This video shows the process of scagliola workshop carried out by Factum Arte's Sebastián Beyro. The object featured in the video is part of an altar designed by Piranesi now available as a limited edition along with other objects in a collection created by Factum Arte in collaboration with Fondazione Giorgio Cini.

Sciences Po interviews
Simon Schaffer and Adam Lowe were interviewed by the team of Sciences Po, Paris, in November 2009 before the Microsoft Prize for Art and Technology was awarded to Adam Lowe.
Simon Schaffer, professor of the History of Science at Cambridge University, shares his views on the concept of scientific humanities and the possibilities of digital mediation. Adam Lowe explains Factum Arte's approach to art and conservation, and discusses ongoing projects and the aims of the Factum Foundation for Digital Technology in Conservation.

Piranesi: Carceri d'invenzione
One of the key elements of the exhibition Le Arti di Piranesi: architetto, incisore, antiquario, vedutista, designer is a 12 minute animation of Piranesi's Carceri series made by Gregoire Dupond at Factum Arte specifically for the exhibition. This series of sixteen visionary images, originally etched by Piranesi when in his late tweties, shows the workings of his imagination, merging his architectural ambitions with his obsessive interest in antiquity. Watching Gregoire Dupond's animation is literally like entering Piranesi's mind. A CD containing both high resolution reproductions of the prints and the complete video will de released soon.

Piranesi: 3D progress by voxelstudios
Factum Arte has collaborated with voxelstudios in the complex process of 3D modelling Giambatista Piranei's engraving for the exhibition The Art of Piranesi: architect, engraver, antiquarian, vedutista, designer, to create three dimensional objects following his unrealised designs. The exhibition will be showcased at Venice Biennial of Architecture, in the Sale del Convitto on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore from 28th August until the 9th of January 2010.

A new film on the production of the 3 facsimiles of paintings by Caravaggio in San Luigi dei Francesi (in process)
Factum Arte and the Fondazione Giorgio Cini reached an agreement with the Municipality of Caravaggio in December 2008 to begin work on a research centre devoted to the work of Michelangelo Merisi (Caravaggio). The project begun with the high resolution recording of three paintings in San Luigi Francesi in Rome. The Research Centre will open in September 2010.

Carlos Garaicoa - Fin de silencios
Creative collaborations with artists are inherently unpredictable, several new directions have emerged from the collaboration between Factum Arte and the Cuban artist Carlos Garaicoa.
Colour proofs of Carlos Garaicoas tapestries made from high resolution photographs that were taken on the streets of Havana, Cuba.
These tapestries were showcased in the exhibition Fin de silencio in Matadero Madrid, from September to November 2010.

Piranesi tripod sphinx
The tripod in this video has been created in 3D Studiomax by Voxel Studio and Factum Arte, the fine textures were achieved in a program called Z Brush. The tripod is inspired by one of the etchings in Piranesi's Complete Etchings by John Wilton-Ely found near Naples. This is one of the objects made by Factum Arte for the exhibition Piranesi.

Anish Kapoor - Steel cube
The steel cube by Anish Kapoor is being prepared in three sizes: 60 centimeters, 1 meter and 1,45 meters. The 1,45 meter version was installed in it's permanent location, a private estate in Ciudad Real, Spain during December 2009.

Recording the tomb of Tutankhamun
The high-resolution recording and production of an exact facsimile of the Tomb of Tutankhamun is part of a major initiative by the Supreme Council of Antiquities to preserve the tombs in the Valley of the Kings while making important tombs that are either closed or in need of closure accessible to the public and to scholars.
The project has been launched by Dr Zahi Hawass in collaboration with the University of Basel, The Friends of the Royal tombs of Egypt, the Factum Foundation for Digital Technology in Conservation and Factum Arte.

Tutankhamun routing test
After all the recording of the tomb of Tutankhamun was completed, work on the processing of the data and the facsimile of the burial chamber and sarcophagus of Tutankhamun went underway.
This video shows the process of routing employing 3D data at a resolution of 100 microns to produce an exact relief surface of the wall of the room of Tutankhamun.

Dionisio González - Transfigured Schönberg
Dionisio González and Factum Arte collaborated for the second time on Dionisio's site-specific installation for the Patio Herrerano in Valladolid, Spain. The work opened on October 2nd 2009.
Transfigured Schönberg combines a hidden structure that fixes over 300 speakers in suspension with specially prepared music inspired by Arnold Schönberg's Transfigured Night. The multi-channel sound was prepared by Nathaniel Mann.

A facsimile of the Wedding at Cana by Paolo Veronese
In the autumn of 2006, the Musée du Louvre reached an agreement with Fondazione Giorgio Cini and granted Factum Arte access to record Veronese's great painting les Noces De Cana.

Marc Quinn - Big Bang Pop
Factum Arte produced a series of portraits of individual pieces of popcorn. They are laser scanned, laser cut, finished by hand and finally cast in bronze. The bronze sculpture, accurate to the cracks on the husk, is painted by hand. One of these pieces can be seen in Hopkins Custot gallery.

Facsimile of a section of the burial chamber from the tomb of Seti I
Factum Arte produced a conservation facsimile of a section the tomb of Seti I from the Valley of Kings for the Desert Valley Project. The project had the support of both the Ministry of Culture of Egypt and the Supreme Council of Antiquities. Specific emphasis was placed on installing into the facsimile sections of the tomb removed in the nineteenth century by the British, French, Americans and Italians.

The Wedding at Cana. A Vision by Peter Greenaway
The second of Peter Greenaway's live performances (from his ongoing series Ten Classic Paintings Revisited) onto a facsimile produced by Factum Arte. The performance took place in the original location of the great painting by Veronese: the refectory of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice.

Facsimile of the Tomb of Thutmose III
Commissioned by the Danish company United Exhibits Group, Factum Arte produced a 1:1 scale facsimile of the tomb of thutmose III (Valley of the Kings, Egypt). The facsimile featured as a central piece of the exhibition The Quest For Immortality at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, which has subsequently toured to seven other museums in the US and visited a total of twelve museums.

Scanning Schwitters
A scanning test on one of Kurt Schwitters pieces as part of Factum Arte's work on the only remaining Merz building on the island of Hjertoya.

Factum Arte carried out a full photographic survey of Kurt Schwitters' only remaining Merz building on the island of Hjertoya, near Molde in Norway. A facsimile and partial reconstruction of the hut was planned to focus attention on the importance of this building. The work is part of an ongoing project, organized by Littoral Arts to preserve both this building and the Merz Barn in Cumbria.

Boris Savelev: 31 Years
Boris Savelev is one of the most important and well-known photographers working in Russia today. He first came to the attention of the art-world in the west with the publication of Secret City by Thames and Hudson in 1981. This established Boris Savelevs“s reputation as one of the most serious artists of a new generation of photographers emerging from the former USSR.

Raphael. Marriage of the Virgin at the Brera
In December a team from Factum Arte worked with the restoration team at the Brera Museum to produce a high resolution recording of this important painting while it was in the process of being restored. The painting was recorded in 3D using Factum Artes Yabba scanner and also recorded photographically at a resolution of 900 DPI at a scale of 1:1. The data was then stitched together and processed.

Editing Originality
The exhibition Editing Originality was curated by Adam Lowe, Matthew Zucker and Betty Guereta showcasing at Galerķa Betty Guereta, Madrid in 2008. The exhibition focused on Artist books ranging from Goya to the Chapman Brothers via Picasso, Matisse, Kiefer and many others including a complete collection of books by Ed Ruscha and two works by Louise Bourgeois.

Anish Kapoor - Islamic Mirror
Anish Kapoor's octagon and square dish titled Islamic Mirror was installed at the Sharq Al-Andalus Hall Museum of the Monasterio de Santa Clara in Murcia from november 2008 to January 2009.
Technology
Early cement printing
Factum Arte built a working 3D cement printer that can print directly from digital CAD files. Once the plans had been finalised, a prototype was built for GENESIS, an exhibition about genetics that opened in Centraal Museum, Utrecht in May 2007.
